My Story

Patricia Marie Hūband, OTR/L CLT LMT

I am a New Mexico native; born and raised in Las Cruces, NM. I moved to Albuquerque, NM in the Fall of 2011 to complete a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Since then I have became a Licensed and Registered Occupational Therapist in the enchanting state of New Mexico. This magnificent milestone helped to encourage my passion of being of service to people of all ages, helping them to improve the quality of their lives and participation in activities they find meaningful; “occupations” they need, want, or have to do. My many years (going on 30 [yrs] now) of rehabilitative, hands-on, manual therapy have and will continue to greatly benefit from my latest educational success.

Throughout high school I apprenticed as an Athletic Trainer in an intensive Sports Medicine program. This spurred my interest in therapy and led me to a career as a Licensed Massage Therapist.  I am a graduate of the Mesilla Valley School of Therapeutic Arts, in Las Cruces, NM.  I have been practicing for over 23 years. More than eighteen years ago I earned my Certificate as a Lymphedema Therapist from The Academy of Lymphatic Studies in Houston, Texas.  I have also worked as a Registered Massage Therapy Instructor at the Massage Therapy Training Institute (MTTI). My primary role at MTTI was as the Sports Massage Externship Coordinator/Instructor, at the New Mexico State University’s Athletic Training Center.  I taught countless massage therapy students how to improve upon an athlete’s physical injury and/or limitation through various bodywork techniques and applications.

I have a Bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University, in Kinesiology – Exercise Science; with a minor in Gerontology – the study of the process of aging.  I worked closely with Dr. Robert Wood, [former] NMSU’s HPRD Department Head, and the New Mexico’s DOH Injury Prevention Division to implement a Falls Risk Screening tool and Fall Prevention techniques for adults 65 and older throughout the state of New Mexico.

My education and experience support me in my desire to assist and support people in living a healthy, happy life.
