A Little Bit About Me...
Patricia Marie Huband OT, CLT, LMT
For more than 30 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with people, bodies, movement, recovery, and health.
My journey began in Sports Medicine as an Athletic Trainer before I became a Licensed Massage Therapist. Somewhere along the way, I happened to be in the right place at the right time and was introduced to a field I knew almost nothing about: lymphedema and lymphatic health.
I still tell people that my first reaction was essentially: “Lymphedema—Lympha-WHAT?! I didn’t know what the heck it was, much less how to spell it!”
That unexpected introduction became a defining part of my professional journey. I pursued specialized lymphatic education and became a Certified Lymphedema Therapist (CLT), with training rooted in European approaches and taught by a German physiotherapy team. What began as an unfamiliar specialty quickly became a fascinating new lens through which I understood the body—and an important part of my clinical practice.
My education continued with degrees in Exercise Kinesiology and Gerontology from New Mexico State University, followed by my Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Each discipline added another layer—movement and rehabilitation, lymphatic function, exercise science, aging, occupation and function—ultimately creating the broad, interconnected approach I bring to my work today.
But my credentials only tell part of the story.
I am endlessly curious about the human body—and about the person living inside it. I believe our bodies rarely behave as isolated systems. Movement, lymphatic function, tissue health, medical and surgical history, aging, stress and nervous-system regulation, daily habits, and the realities of life all influence how we feel and function.
That perspective has shaped NM Wellness, Lymphatics, & Rehabilitation into a practice where clinical knowledge, hands-on experience, rehabilitation, lymphatic care, and education come together.
I love helping people understand what is happening in their bodies and why. When something finally makes sense, it becomes much easier to know what to do next.

"Plus" NMWLR Is Growing Beyond the Treatment Room ...
For more than two decades, NM Wellness, Lymphatics, & Rehabilitation has been the home of my hands-on clinical work in Albuquerque — one person, one body, one conversation at a time.
And now, something wonderful is growing from it.
Again and again, I’ve seen how much changes when people finally understand their lymphatic system: what it does, why it matters, what may interfere with its function, and what they can realistically do to support it. But not everyone can come into my office. Geography, finances, time, access to knowledgeable providers, and simply life can get in the way of receiving the education people need.
That is why I created Lymph + Life.
Lymph + Life
Lymph + Life is an online educational extension of the work I’ve been doing at NMWLR for decades — a place to take clinical experience, practical lymphatic education, and my love of teaching beyond the treatment room.
Lymph 101 Course
What is Lymph? Why Does it Matter?
My foundational online course, Lymph 101, brings the lymphatic system out of the medical-textbook shadows and into everyday language. We’ll explore what lymph is, how the lymphatic system works, why congestion and lymphatic challenges can develop, and practical ways you can begin supporting your lymphatic health on your own.
While creating Lymph + Life, I found I also wanted to offer another way for people to begin exploring their lymphatic health for themselves.
The TLC Self-Assessment is a guided quiz designed to help you consider
what you may be noticing in your body and learn your current level of lymphatic congestion.
Curious where you fall? Take the TLC Self-Assessment and find out.
Lymph 101 is only the beginning. Lymph + Life is growing into a home for courses, resources, practical self-care education, and deeper conversations about lymphatics, movement, nervous-system regulation, recovery, and whole-person wellness.
NMWLR and Lymph + Life are two expressions of the similar work. NMWLR remains my Albuquerque home for individualized, hands-on clinical care. Lymph + Life expands the classroom, making trustworthy lymphatic education available well beyond New Mexico.
The more you understand your body, the better equipped you are to care for it.
